    Course Format

    In Person

At a testing center: Select your testing center, exam date and time with PSI Exams

    Online

Live Remote Proctor (LRP): Meet with a live remote proctor from your home, office, or other secure location.

    Certification

    Eligibility

To qualify for the exam, applicants must hold a current, unrestricted registered nurse license in either the United States, a U.S. Territory, or Canada. If an applicant received their degree and/or license outside of the United States or Canada, they can still qualify to sit for a BCEN exam. The Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) recommends having 2 years of experience in one’s specialty area, but it is not required.

    Renewal

Recertification can be done every 4 years in one of 2 ways:

    1. Submit a form that shows you have completed 100 CME contact hours over the past 4 years.

    2. Take another exam.
