Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Registered Dietitian (RD) for NJMS- Global Tuberculosis Institute. This position is responsible for assessing, planning, and evaluating clients for nutritional risk and providing nutrition education and counseling. The RD will help clients manage complications with TB-infection and its associated treatments, and other comorbidities. This includes nutritional counseling for additional comorbidities, such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. Among the key duties of this position are the following: * Performs nutrition assessments and triages clients into appropriate level of care to determine time frame for follow-up intervention and intensity of nutritional care required. * Assesses client's dietary intake, cultural food preferences, weight and height, medications, allergies, chronic diseases history, complimentary therapies, nutrition-related symptoms (e.g., diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, poor dental care, difficulty swallowing, etc.), socio-economic factors affecting nutrition, changes in body shape, nutritional education/counseling needs. * Develops a medically and culturally relevant nutritional care plan which includes client's goals and objectives. * Evaluates and monitor's client's progress and implements appropriate nutritional care collaboratively with the physician or designate. * Provides dietary counseling and follow-up for TB patients with diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and obesity. * Makes appropriate referrals to physicians, social workers, or food assistance programs as necessary. * Provides individual nutrition education and counseling to improve nutrition knowledge and status of patients infected with TB.
