Department Overview Unit Vision Statement: Join our 5A/5C team! 5A/5C is one shared acute care unit with 17 beds on 5A and 9 beds on 5C. Our primary populations include chronic and acute illnesses including cystic fibrosis, heart failure, COPD, ESRD, ESLD, DKA, sickle cell disease, cellulitis, sepsis, substance use disorder, alcohol withdrawal, and other comorbidities such as behavioral health. Many of our patients are houseless or struggle socioeconomically and often feel that no one cares about them as humans. Our primary teams are Family Medicine, General Medicine, and Hospitalist. We collaborate with PT/OT, Dieticians, Social Work, Case Management, Speech/Language Therapists, and other multi-disciplinary healthcare team members to provide exceptional care for our patients. * This role is subject to a collective bargaining agreement with the Oregon Nurses Association (ONA). * Weekend Obligation: Unit based approved guidelines * Floating Obligation: Within 6 months per unit recommendation Function/Duties of Position Hiring Bonus up to $12,000 DOE and Relocation Package Available. Must begin work by July 1, 2024 to qualify. $49.16-$78.18 per hour, based on education and experience Join our 5A/5C team! Covered 100% for full-time employees and 88% for dependents. * $25K of term life insurance provided at no cost to the employee * Two separate above market pension plans to choose from * Vacation - 192 to 288 hours per year depending on length of service, prorated for part-time * Sick Leave - 96 hours per year, prorated for part-time * Holidays - up to 64 holiday hours per calendar year (employees accrue .0308 holiday hours for each hour paid) * Substantial public transportation discounts (Tri-met and C-Tran) * Tuition Reimbursement * Innovative Employee Assistance Program (EAP) including extensive wellness resources Required Qualifications * BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date. * ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date. * Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire * Internal ONA applicants: Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred * Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License * BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA (upload documentation with online application) * BLS must not expire during orientation * Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation Department Specific Requirements: * 2-years of current nursing experience in adult acute care, adult intermediate care, and/or emergency department observation. Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Individualized Orientation tailored to applicant's needs: Our learning program is unique. You will receive a fellowship program tailored to your development needs for this specialty; which could be for 4 weeks and up to six months. Transition to hired shift may be delayed for a temporary reassignment due to individual development needs and skill mix of the employees on the unit or the hires shift at any given time. Preferred Qualifications Current OHSU employees: BSN preferred Additional Details OHSU is an ONA union represented hospital. Weekend shifts, holiday shifts and floating shift are an obligation in this role title. Registered nurses must be willing to work in an environment with patients diagnosed with blood-borne pathogens, COVID-19, and TB. Regular exposure to patients requiring airborne, contact, and droplet precautions is expected in this job title.
