RN Clinical Manager DESCRIPTION * Title: RN Clinical Manager * Effective Date: 9/1/2018 * Job Family: Medical * FLSA Status: Non-Exempt * Reports To: Director, Multiple Specialty Clinic/Practice Manager * Populations Served: Neonate / Infant (0-12 months), Pediatric (1 - 12 yrs.), Adolescent (13 - 19 yrs.), Adult (20 - 64 yrs.), Geriatric (65 yrs. & older) JOB SUMMARY Reports directly to Director, Multiple Specialty Clinic/Practice Manager. The RN Clinical Manager performs administrative and clinical duties to support clinical operations while providing professional nursing care for patient(s) and respective family according to established standards and practices. Coordinates day to day clinical operations of multi-specialty clinic including medical, Lab, and Imaging. Supervises clinical support staff and delegate responsibilities as required. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision, and values of CommWell Health. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS * Assures that all patients receive excellent customer service from all areas under supervision and facilitates as needed service recovery. * Applies critical thinking and problem-solving skills to ensure well management of medical and ancillary services. * Communicate frequently with Practice Manager and keeps informed as needed on any issues or concerns. * Creates an environment which enables and celebrates workforce excellence and fosters staff personal development in skills and competencies to improve patient care. * Responsible for oversight and clinical leadership in the following areas: medical. * Monitors and supervises operational flow of patient's clinical ancillary services to provide effective quality and good continuum of patient care and meet established level of patient access volumes. * Assists with interviewing, conducting Disciplinary actions, ensuring annual and new hire evaluations and competencies are conducted in a timely manner. * Assist with ordering supplies and maintaining adequate clinical inventory. * Communicates with physicians and primary care team members, and assist the development of clinical practice guidelines, supporting best practices and evidence-based medicine with CMO, CDO, VP BHS as needed. * Assist with providing training for electronic medical/health record to professional and support staff as needed as a Super User. * Participates in the formulation, review and revision of all policies and procedures related to patient care areas. Assists Director of Multiple Specialty Clinic/Practice Manager/COO/CNO with strategic planning and implementation of clinical strategies for projected future health problems arising from annual community diagnosis and special populations needs assessments. * Active member of the Leadership Management Team. * Triages patients to determine order of need, consulting with providers as needed to promote continued patient flow through the medical system. For patients triaged and not seen the same day, supervises the collection and recording of vital signs and other pertinent patient data. * Completes nursing admission of each patient according to protocol. * Carries out patient's plan of care within health center policy, procedures, and legal limitations. Performs nursing procedures for minor treatment (such as cleansing of wounds, bandaging, suture removal, giving injections) at the direction of the medical provider or supervisor according to standard protocols. * Delegates lab assignments to nursing in assistance to overall lab requirements per clinic regulations. * Develops and updates existing nursing protocol to ensure a quality standard of care. * Maintains a medical supply inventory of needed equipment instruments and ensures procurement of adequate supplies. * Maintains and implements a safety program that monitors the following: * Equipment maintenance and annual calibrations * Universal precautions * Disposal of hazardous waste * Provides psychosocial interventions with individuals, families, and groups. * Coordinates client care with relevant agencies to facilitate implementation of treatment plan. * Implements preventive treatment and follow-up programs to meet the needs for the client population. * Coordinates patient care in cases requiring complex multidisciplinary intervention such as prenatal care requiring social services, HIV counseling, and domestic violence intervention. * Participates in staff conferences to devise patient care plans, to revise and update clinic service and CQI program. * Assists in cleaning and sterilizing instruments used in the clinic. Assists in the general clean-up and maintenance of the patient examination rooms and work-up area and equipment. * Responds to calls from the reception desk if they have an urgent nursing/medical concern about a patient. * Carries out proper procedures for basic life support, fire, disaster, and infection control. * Safely administers medications as ordered by the physician(s). * Accepts constructive criticism and implements suggestions and/or goals for improving * Participates in case reviews during PCHH huddles: Daily Multidisciplinary * Other duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS * General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels. * May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights. * May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms. * May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. * Periods of mild to moderate stress levels and fluctuating workloads may occur. * May be scheduled as needed including overtime relocation outside of home site or department. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS * 2 year / Associate Degree in Nursing from a state accredited school * 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or related health care field (Preferred) EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS * Minimum five (5) years of direct patient care experience as a healthcare professional including supervisory experience. (Preferred) * An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered. LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: Ability to read and comprehend written materials. Ability to write clearly and concisely. Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one or for small groups. Ability to make formal presentations to groups. Ability to communicate in Spanish and English with patients and family members of various educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
