Job Summary
GWUH is seeking a Medical‑Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Neuro | Ortho | Trauma unit (6 North). This role is ideal for Med‑Surg RNs who are interested in caring for a diverse acute‑care patient population and expanding their skills in neurologic and trauma‑related conditions within a highly supported academic environment. The RN provides direct patient care to individuals with a wide range of medical and post‑operative needs, including patients with neurologic injuries such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, and spine conditions.
Unit Overview
6 North is a 42‑bed, multi‑specialty acute care unit supporting patients across medical‑surgical, neurologic, orthopedic, and trauma diagnoses. The unit is designated as a:
- Comprehensive Stroke Unit
- Level IV Epilepsy Center
The unit utilizes advanced monitoring technology and supports nurses transitioning from Medical‑Surgical practice through structured orientation, preceptorship, and ongoing education.

Qualifications
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
- BLS
- Current state nursing license.
- Prefer one year full time or three years part time experience in acute care setting.
- Requirements specified for specialty unit
