MAIN FUNCTION: The Lead in the Operating Room will assist the OR/GI Manager in his/her responsibilities of supervision direction and support of the nursing staff on the unit, as well as the maintenance of standards. She/he will have the ability to run the daily OR schedule according to established rules, regulations and AORN standards. She/he will consistently demonstrate proficiency in working with complex patients according to the unit's scope of practice. * Participates in activities designed for professional growth, and staff development * Demonstrates leadership skills. * Contributes to the productivity and efficient operation of the department. * Provide the care needed as described in the unit's department's policies and procedures. Demonstrates leadership skills and is responsible for keeping informed on and assuring compliance with JCAHO & DPH standards & recommendations. Responsible for the cost effective management of the Operating Room. Assists the Surgical Services Educator with the education of the staff. Responsible for quality assurance of the department. Responsible for the activities of the OR. Works collaboratively with the Surgical Services Administrator displaying leadership in management, clinical practice, quality management and staff development in accordance with the overall philosophy and goals of Patient Care Services. He/she is responsible for the direction of patient care as well as patient care activities, unit operations, and staff functions. The Control Desk Coordinator in the Operating Room will supervise direct and support of the nursing staff on the unit, as well as the maintenance of standards. She/he will have the ability to run the daily operating room schedule according to established rules and regulations. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: CT RN licensure. Minimum of 3 years OR RN experience; CNOR required. EOE/Minorities/Females/Vet/Disabled
