Cytotechnologist, Pathology/Cytology


The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Cytotechnologist, Pathology/Cytology. The successful candidate will: * Process patient samples for cytological procedures including examination, accessioning and result reporting. * Screen patient samples and provide cytologic interpretation. * Perform clinical laboratory testing procedures. * Communicate with physicians, nurses and other hospital personnel. * Assist to ensure proper collection, processing and reporting. * Maintain documentation as required by the regulatory agencies, including equipment and records, quality assurance activities related to examination performance. * Compliance with hospital policy regarding annual health assessment and mandatory in-service. * Duties and responsibilities are not limited to the above description. Required Qualifications: * New York State Cytotechnologist license or documented eligibility required. Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree or equivalent college credits in Medical Technology, Physical or Biological Science preferred. * Experience in a hospital laboratory setting, including Cytology and ASCP certification preferred.
