Position Summary Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children Providing compassionate care to the children, teenagers and young adults of Central Florida for more than 30 years, Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children is located on the downtown Orlando campus and includes 156 licensed beds for specialized care for children as well as the Bert Martin's Champions for Children Emergency Department & Trauma Center, offering trauma care for children as the pediatric site of the Orlando Health ORMC Level One Trauma Center. State-of-the-art pediatric services are provided by a comprehensive staff that includes pediatric subspecialty physicians and a nursing team that is "Magnet" recognized for nursing excellence and high-quality patient care. The hospital also has earned national recognition for 12 consecutive years as a "Best Children's Hospitals" by U.S. News & World Report and was included, together with Orlando Health ORMC, in the IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals list for 2021. Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children Mobile ICU is seeking an Advance Registered Nurse. The RN Advanced Care administers patient care in an area in a hospital or inpatient setting where patients have an advanced illness or injury that routinely requires timely, intense, and complex care to stabilize and support the patient's medical condition. These areas require a lower caregiver-to-patient ratio and highly trained team members with advanced skills. Shift : VFT, Nights Responsibilities Essential Functions Coordinate patient placement activities via Transfer Center Line in the Transfer Center to optimize patient flow, patient outcomes, admission appropriateness, and cost efficiencies in support of organizational strategic initiatives while working with patient flow supervisor, physician, and nursing staff. Triage patients via use of virtual phone and gather intake information from various providers. Facilitate consults with specialty services as well as coordinating transfers and direct admissions. Maintain assigned databases such as Red Cap. Collect, analyze, and interpret outcome data systematically to identify problem areas and assess need for improvement and/or support change sin hospital processes in relations with Transfer Center. Prepare periodic reports such as Monthly statistics, missed calls, and delays. Support continuous performance and quality improvement by attending monthly meetings such as but not limited to surgical pips, transport staff meetings, and trauma quality improvement meetings. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in all interactions between transfer center and physician, internal customers, and external customers. Have a complete understanding of composition of teams to dispatch the teams appropriately. Utilizes the appropriate platform for tracking and dispatching the teams. Understands flight algorithms and calculates points accordingly. Serves as a role model for staff and supports the hospital and nursing department's goals and strategies. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, assesses the data reflective of the patient's status, and interprets the necessary information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs. Coordinates the care and delegates as appropriate to other team members on a defined group of patients. Documents patient care in a knowledgeable, skillful, and consistent manner meeting all required and regulatory standards. This includes but is not limited to patient assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety. Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit/department-specific requisite skills. Prioritizes patient care in an ongoing manner in accordance with Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care. Practices effective problem identification and resolution. Other Related Functions The professional nurse contributes to the knowledge and skills of others, and the continuous improvement of the quality of health care practice and organizational outcomes Participates and may lead unit level and/or organizational level committees of nursing practice and performance improvement. Participates in department and organizational peer review, mentoring, and coaching regarding professional practice or role performance. Practices efficient use of supplies and maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area. Attends staff development in-services, department meetings, and/or nursing committee meetings. Partners with the nursing leadership team to identify professional development needs. Assumes responsibility for one's own professional development and continuing education. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education/Training Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and unit/department Licensure/Certification Maintains current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas.
