The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to deliver high‑quality patient care and maintains professional accountability for all care provided to assigned patients. This role evaluates the overall effectiveness of care delivered by other direct caregivers and coordinates patient care in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. The RN upholds patient rights, ensures confidentiality of patient information, and performs all duties in alignment with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.

Licensure

  • Must hold and maintain a current RN license in the hiring state and/or compact licensure, meeting all state board of nursing requirements.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.

  • Prolonged standing and walking throughout each shift.

  • Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform essential duties.

Experience

  • Experience requirements vary by department; previous nursing experience preferred unless otherwise specified.

Certifications

  • Required:

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association or must obtain within 30 days of hire.

  • May be required based on unit assignment or required to obtain within departmental timeframe:

    • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support

    • NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program

    • ENPC – Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course

    • TNCC – Trauma Nursing Core Course

    • CPHON – Certified Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurse

    • OCN – Oncology Certified Nurse

    • PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support

    • PEARS – Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization

    • S.T.A.B.L.E. – Six Assessment & Care Modules

    • C‑EFM – Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification

    • Other unit‑specific certifications as required
