Supervisor, Clinical Labs - Pathology/Cytology

The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Supervisor/TH Clinical Associate Technical Director of Clinical Laboratories, Pathology/Cytology. The successful candidate will: * Process patient samples for cytological procedures including examination, accessioning and result reporting. * Screen patient samples and provide cytologic interpretation. * Perform clinical laboratory testing procedures. * Communicate with physicians, nurses and other hospital personnel. * Assist to ensure proper collection, processing and reporting. * Maintain documentation as required by the regulatory agencies, including equipment and records, quality assurance activities related to examination performance. * Comply with hospital policy regarding annual health assessment and mandatory in-service. * Perform other duties and responsibilities as required/needed. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science or other relevant laboratory science. * New York State Laboratory Technologist Licensure. * Must meet at lease one requirement as mandated by the New York State Office of Professions for Section 58-1.4, Qualifications of a Laboratory Supervisor. * 4+ years of related experience; * OR a Master's Degree and a minimum of 2-years of pertinent experience in an acceptable laboratory subsequent to qualifying. * 2+ years of supervisory/administrative experience. Preferred Qualifications: * ASCP certification or equivalent preferred. Work Schedule: Variable Days; Variable Hours Salary Grade/Rank: SL-5 Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement: An approved COVID-19 vaccination.
