Minimum Offer $95,388.80 Maximum Offer $149,364.80

Summary:

Rust Medical Center is seeking a skilled and compassionate experienced nurse leader to join the Progressive Care Unit. The Progressive Care Nurse Manager provides clinical and operational leadership for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, acute care environment. This role is responsible for staff leadership, clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of patient outcomes.
The Nurse Manager collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, interdisciplinary teams, and nursing leadership to support safe clinical practice, strong employee engagement, and efficient unit operations.

This position is eligible for a sign on bonus and relocation of up to $13,500

Responsibilities:

Clinical & Quality Leadership

  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and patient-centered care

  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and evidence-based practice

  • Monitor unit quality metrics (e.g., falls, pressure injuries, patient satisfaction)

  • Lead performance improvement initiatives and root-cause analyses

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, onboard, coach, and retain a high-performing nursing team

  • Provide ongoing feedback, performance evaluations, and professional development

  • Support staff engagement, accountability, and positive workplace culture

  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and skill mix

Operational Management

  • Manage daily unit operations, including staffing, scheduling, and patient flow

  • Collaborate with bed management and interdisciplinary teams to optimize throughput

  • Oversee supply management and support budgetary accountability

  • Participate in hospital committees and leadership initiatives

Collaboration & Communication

  • Serve as a liaison between frontline staff, physicians, and nursing leadership

  • Foster effective communication across disciplines

  • Support patient and family education and engagement

Qualifications:

  • Current RN license in New Mexico or compact state

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required, MSN preferred.

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive care, step-down, or critical care nursing experience preferred.

  • Minimum of 1–3 years of nursing leadership or charge nurse experience preferred.

  • National nursing leadership or specialty certification (e.g., PCCN, CCRN, NE-BC)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage clinical operations

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

  • Data-driven decision making and problem-solving

  • Ability to manage change in a dynamic healthcare environment
