Registered Nurse

Full Time - Day Shift

3/12 hour shifts from 7am to 7pm; rotating weekends

Peak Rehabilitation Hospital is a joint-venture partnership between Duke Health, WakeMed and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, a business unit of Lifepoint Health. With a shared commitment of providing high-quality, evidence-driven care, our state-of-the-art, 52-bed inpatient acute rehabilitation hospital is dedicated to the treatment and recovery of individuals who have experienced the debilitating effects of a severe injury or illness.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to: The Post Acute Director

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for a given population based upon age specific and cultural needs. This is done in a collaborative multidisciplinary approach embracing quality and safety.
  • Assures quality of care by measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital philosophies and standards of care
  • Coordinates the delivery of patient care for the Rehab Unit, facilitates problem solving with staff members and communicates necessary issues to nursing administration and the Program Manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

Education: Associate's degree Required; Bachelor's degree Preferred; Graduate of a Credited Nursing Program

Licenses: Current RN to practice in required state

Certifications: American Heart Association BCLS; New employees that have BLS certification from another organization than American Heart Association (i.e. American Red Cross) have 30 days to complete American Heart Association version.

Skills and Abilities:

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Works in well-lit, ventilated and climate controlled office environment with routine office equipment; some equipment has moving mechanical parts.

In hospital environment, may be exposed to hazards and unusual elements, which may include but are not limited to bloodborne pathogens and / or contagious illnesses, toxic chemicals, and biohazardous materials which may require extensive safety precautions and the use of protective equipment.

Noise level in the work environment is typical for an office and/or hospital environment.

Pay

Average North Carolina Staff Position Pay

$44.89/hour
