Registered Nurse - Endoscopy - Part-time


Join Stamford Health's Endoscopy Center, a nationally recognized center for quality and safety excellence, as a part-time Endoscopy Registered Nurse. Utilize your knowledge of endoscopy techniques, instrumentation, and equipment while aiding in the conscientious preparation for each procedure. The team is seeking a collaborative team-player who demonstrates attention to detail and can anticipate physician's needs during endoscopy procedures. In this role, you will provide safe patient care by verifying patient identification and assuring the presence of the necessary documents, laboratory tests, consents, equipment, and radiology images. Promote optimal surgical care by applying your understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology and pharmacology. Live out Stamford Hospital's value of accountability and assume responsibility for correct medication labeling on the sterile field and correct handling. Schedule: Part-time with full-time benefits! 32 hours/week. 4 shifts per week, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. No weekends and no holidays required. This position is located at the Tully Health Center in Stamford, Connecticut. * Respects and protects the patient's rights to confidentiality and privacy and discloses information only for professional purposes which are in the patient's best interests with full consideration of their legal rights. * Provides safe patient care by verifying patient identification and assuring the presence of the operative consent, facility consent, anesthesia consent (if applicable), history & physical, and all laboratory reports needed for that particular patient. * Comply with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants and other hazardous substances. * Has knowledge of endoscopy techniques, instrumentation, equipment and supplies necessary and conscientiously prepares for each procedure. Has ability to troubleshoot equipment when necessary. * Demonstrates attention to detail and anticipates surgeon's needs during endoscopy procedures. Documents pertinent information and observations clearly, concisely and in a timely manner. * Has working knowledge of decontamination and sterilization process of endoscopes. * Current Connecticut nursing license required. * BLS/ ACLS certification required. * Minimum 2 years previous experience in either a critical care or ambulatory surgical center setting required. * Ability to communicate effectively with patients, their family members, surgical center staff, physicians and other health care workers.
