Job Summary This Registered Respiratory Therapist is also an Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) specialist. They will manages the ECMO system and provides care to patient on ECMO in the intensive care unit under the direction and supervision of an ECMO trained physician. In addition, performs as an expert practitioner of respiratory care. Provides respiratory care to patients with minimal guidance when not involved in an ECMO case or activity. RRT: Performs the therapy, management, rehabilitation, diagnostic evaluation and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities which affect the cardiopulmonary system and associated aspects of other system functions. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's individual age specific needs and to provide individualized age specific treatments and care. Demonstrates efficiency across clinical/critical care settings to provide quality service to patient care units through communication, cooperation and collaboration with heath care team. Qualifications Education Associates Degree from an AMA approved Respiratory program. Preferred Bachelors Experience Minimum two (2) years critical care experience in a tertiary care facility Successful completion of hospital based ECMO specialist training and certification Licensure, Certification, Registration Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) granted by The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Valid State of Connecticut Respiratory Care Practitioner license BLS /ACLS Certified Obtain and keep current with I-Stat validation Adult Critical Care Specialty (ACCS) certification by The National Board for Respiratory Care (must be obtained within 6 months of hire date) We take great care of careers.
