Job Summary and Qualifications

The Float Pool Nurse works in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team to coordinate care from admission to discharge, resulting in quality outcomes, patient safety and high patient satisfaction. The Float RN is to perform patient care under the direction of the Nurse Manager/Director in the following departments: Med/Surg, PCU, ICU, ED, Infusion, Stress or PACU.

 Provides direct patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, all regulatory, facility and unit-specific policy and procedure;

• Works as a team member ensuring high levels of communication with patients;
• Consults with nursing leadership as needed to achieve desired nursing outcomes;
• Provides nursing care in all units
• Documents data in electronic records in real time.
• Other duties as assigned
• Demonstrates working knowledge of AIDET, utilizing with each patient interaction
• Regular, reliable attendance is required to ensure the highest level of patient care
• Follows hospital safety and quality standards and expectations, as it pertains to job performance and patient care

What qualifications you will need:

• 2+ years critical care required (ICU, ED, PACU)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• (RN) Registered Nurse
• Graduate of Professional School of Nursing, BSN or ADN required
• Advanced Trauma Care for Nurse, or Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
