Job Summary and Qualifications 

  • Utilized the nursing process, initiates assessment, plans the care of patients with ostomy, draining wounds, fistulas, pressure sores, and incontinence. 
  • Assesses all new ostomy patients for knowledge level/deficit skill level and self-care potential. Performs stoma sitting, initiate’s ostomy and other wound care areas in plans of care; assures adequate discharge planning and follow-up care.  
  • Assists nursing staff with decision making in clinical situations related to wound and stoma care. 
  • Works with nursing staff and physicians to develop and equipment for patients with ostomy, draining wounds, fistulas, pressure sores, and incontinence. 
  • Evaluates, selects and recommends supplies and equipment for patients with ostomy, draining wounds, fistulas, pressure sores, and incontinence. 
  • Evaluates and approves patients for appropriate pressure reducing mattresses in a timely and cost-effective manner. 

What qualifications you will need: 

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (CWOCN) Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse
  • (RN) Registered Nurse
  • Associate Degree
