Registered Nurse RN OR Coordinator Lead

Job Summary and Qualifications
Provides direct patient care to infant through geriatric patient. Addresses the physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. Communicates with surgeon continuously as needed about the patient’s condition. RN Cardiovascular Coordinator is independently accountable for the effective management, coordination of care, and development of education for specific patient populations being evaluated for advanced cardiovascular disease, procedures and treatments. The Coordinator partners with the interventional cardiologists, heart failure team, cardiothoracic surgical team, electrophysiologists, advanced practice practitioners, and other clinical staff throughout HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast to coordinate patient care.

- Educates patient and family regarding all aspects of disease management, diagnostic and interventional procedures and signs and symptoms that require a follow up telephone call or triage visit.

- Maintains/addresses the Physician Communication Tool to fix or escalate any issues as needed.
- Ensures appropriate resources are available to support patient care and procedures; collaborates with Supply Chain on supplies/implants and Sterile Processing on instrumentation and ensures all is ready prior to procedure date.
- Communicates/coordinates with perfusion, first assistants, and any other outside vendors/agencies to ensure support for procedure.
- Seeks to understand changes in work tasks/processes; actively seeks information about new tasks/processes; treats change and new tasks/processes as opportunities for learning and personal growth; speaks positively about changes to others; quickly modifies behavior to deal effectively with change.
- Demonstrates knowledge and application of the surgical process in relation to the cardiovascular patient.
- Conducts interviews with patient, family and other healthcare agencies to obtain past medical records, social and medical history and to assess their understanding of the plan of care.
- Serves as the patient and family advocate with respect to the patient’s right to privacy by protecting confidential information.
- Prepare and analyzes pre-procedure clinical data and consults with multidisciplinary team
- Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
- Maintains/updates preference cards as needed.
- Follows patient post procedure for continuity of care.
What qualifications you will need:
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience with emphasis on cardiovascular patient care; maximum of 5 years of cardiovascular knowledge
- BSN Required
- Current Texas RN licensure American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Course and Certification
