Clinical Lab Technologist, Hematology & Urinalysis

The Department of Clinical Laboratories, Hematology & Urinalysis at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist III. The successful candidate will: * Perform clinical laboratory procedures and examinations, and any other tests or procedures conducted by the Hematology and Chemistry Laboratories. * Demonstrate working knowledge of routine instrumentation and methodology used in Clinical Hematology, Chemistry, and Point of Care Testing; specific familiarization with Core Laboratory Analyzers preferred. * Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills. * Work with nursing, physicians, other employees, and management as needed, to ensure POCT is run efficiently and effectively. * Ensure that test systems are properly functioning; maintain, troubleshoot, and take corrective action with equipment as needed. * Maintain and monitor comprehensive quality control and proficiency testing problems. * Train personnel using ongoing competency. * Demonstrate flexibility as the duties and responsibilities are not limited to the above description. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Physical or Biological Sciences. * New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist Licensure. Preferred Qualifications: * ASCP certification preferred. * Point of Care Testing experience preferred. Work Schedule: Variable Days; Variable Hours Salary Grade/Rank: SL-2 Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement: An approved COVID-19 vaccination.
