Pediatric Resource Nurse - Pediatric Med Surg


Job Summary Under general supervision, following established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines, delivers nursing care to patients throughout their life span, neonatal through young adult. Plans and implements nursing care; documents nursing assessments, identifies and reports situations requiring further intervention, formulates and communications goal-directed plan of care; assures patient rights. Provides further nursing assessment and critical thinking to manage/intervene with patients presenting questionable or complex issues, or clinical deterioration in response to requests from direct care staff and medical staff, or from clinical concerns/observations during targeted rounds. Collaborates with all members of the healthcare team in regard to patient treatments, interventions, and disposition according to existing policies and protocols. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital and principles of quality improvement. *

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; * Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida with a BSN. * Three years of Pediatric experience as a professional nurse, including a minimum of two years in a Pediatric critical care and/or hospital emergency department. * Maintenance of BLS, ACLS, and PALS is required upon hire. * Achievement of national certification in critical care, emergency nursing, or Pediatric nursing specialty, and certification by the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses to administer chemotherapy within one year of hire is required.
