Job Title: Registered Nurse Team Lead Department: 4North Medical/4South Telemetry Position Status: Full Time, 36 hours per week Schedule: 3x12s, self-scheduling for day/night shift (one type of shift for the entire 8 week scheduling block), every 3rd weekend required RN to Patient Ratio: 1:5 Position Summary: Registered Nurses at Cayuga Medical Center are an integral part of the collaborative interdisciplinary team devoted to the delivery of comprehensive and compassionate care to the Tompkins County community. RNs are able to practice at their full scope of practice, and have the opportunity to engage in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs and services with the goal of improving patient outcomes, and execute an optimal plan of care in a shared governance environment. Location: Cayuga Medical Center Main Campus - Ithaca, NY Department Specific: The Medical and Telemetry Units offer the opportunity to work with a high variety case mix and acuity for a diverse population of patients. Orientation is up to 3 months long, and is tailored to the individual needs of the employee. Essential Functions: * Upholds all job responsibilities of a Registered Nurse. * Personal characteristics: Honest, calm, reliable, compassionate, and caring to patients and coworkers. Demonstrates integrity at all times. Ensures a positive influence on morale and emotional maturity. * Direct patient care and assessment; relationship-based care through customer service rounding. * Initiates and maintains positive and professional relationships with patients and coworkers. * Takes responsibility for personal development and supports a learning environment. * Real-time staff education, mentoring, and coaching of staff relating to care, communication, and unit operations with the purpose of supporting excellent patient care. * Customer service in line with organizational expectations and obtain organizational goals including fostering team work and collaboration. * Serve as a representative and active agent by engagement with furthering the nursing profession at CMC. * Maintains patient flow within the department (admissions, transfers, discharges, etc.). * Maintains records. * Demonstrates strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. * Manages productivity and is accountable for day-to-day adjustments in staffing. Documents deviations from staffing plan with explanation. Adjusts staff schedule to optimize unit coverage. * Displays commitment to the mission of the hospital and its values. * Flexible in assuming other appropriate responsibilities not noted above. License: Active New York Nursing license, out of state nurses are still eligible to apply Minimum education: Associates Degree in Nursing Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (new hires have the opportunity to obtain these certifications during introductory period) Physical: Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., Use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job. Final pay determination will be based upon, market, experience, specialty, and licensure/certification where applicable.
