DCBOH PH Workforce - Public Health Nurse The DeKalb County Board of Health (DCBOH) Public Health Workforce Initiative aims to increase the public health workforce by providing opportunities for learning experiences and on-the-job training to advance more equitable health outcomes for underserved communities in DeKalb County, Georgia. Members will work with DCBOH's program staff to learn how to manage and operate public health-related programs that will help meet communities' public health needs by providing capacity, support, and increased awareness of COVID-19 testing and vaccinations. The members' roles and responsibilities will focus on community engagement, health promotion, and support and direct services. This is a three quarter-time position, living allowance of $13,110.00, 1200 hours during the service year, 25 to 30 hours per week, and a college graduate is required. Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with established nurse protocols. Works in the program area of adult health (STD, Breast, and Cervical Cancer Program, Family Planning), refugee health, TB, and Ryan White Early Care Clinic, but may also work in child health immunization/travel clinics. Performs client assessment, provides treatments, educates clients on health problems, and provides the necessary referrals to internal and external health care providers. Member Duties : The AmeriCorps member will provide expert patient assessment and formulate nursing diagnosis through observation, inspection, palpation, auscultation, review of available records, and interviews. The member will (1) plan, evaluate, and modify treatment programs based on data obtained through observation, interviews, and analysis of patient records; (2) establish nursing care objectives and priorities based on the assessment of patients' needs about long and short-term treatment goals; (3) serve as a resource person to community nurses, medical staff, and other related professional staff in the provision of patient treatment and participate in various committees to improve the quality of nursing care. The member will maintain records and prepares reports and correspondence related to the work.
