The RNFA must have acquired the necessary knowledge, judgment, and skills specific to the expanded role of RNFA clinical practice. Intraoperatively, the RNFA practices at the direction of the surgeon and does not concurrently function as a scrub nurse Associates Degree in Nursing. Bachelors of Nursing preferred. Previous experience preferred. Registered Nurse licensed in the state of Virginian. Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant required. If not Certified RNFA at time of hire, must obtain certification within 18 months of hire. BLS; ACLS within 1 year. New Hire Education Requirement: All Registered Nurses who do not have their BSN will be required to sign a BSN Agreement committing to successfully obtain their BSN within 5 years of hire.
