THIS IS A NON-CIVIL SERVICE POSITION POSTING DATE: 02/28/2024 CLOSING DATE: 05/28/2024 AT 12:00AM MIDNIGHT SALARY: $33,769.00 - $42,213.00 Annually CLASS DESCRIPTION The Baltimore City Health Department is seeking a clinical assistant for its Immunization Services. The position is grant funded until December 2024 and the Clinical Assistant will work 36 hours per week and primarily be responsible performing front and back-end duties in the Immunization Clinic. Candidate will be a non-civil service employee. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Provides office support including completing appropriate forms to register clients. * Ensures immunization rooms are fully stocked with necessary medical supplies in accordance with protocol. * Completes clinic logs and forms as required. * Pulls and files client charts. * Completes eligibility process to verify insurance and enter data to generate invoice for client and/or third-party insurers. * Uses computer system to register clients and make appointments. * Answers telephone inquiries regarding the health care services provided at the health center and refer callers or visitors to the proper office. * Takes and records patients' health measurements, records pertinent data in the patient history file. * Performs CPR, First Aid and responds to medical emergencies. * Performs related work as required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: Have graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate and either completion of a phlebotomy course, or a Medical Assistant program which includes office practice, including data entry, clinical skills, venipuncture, and completion of an externship, which is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) of the American Medical Association in collaboration with the American Association of Medical Assistant, or by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or by the Accredited Commission for Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), AND EXPERIENCE: Have two years of experience in a clinical setting. Prefer a bilingual (English/Spanish) speaker. NOTES(EQUIVALENCIES): Have an Associate of Arts degree in a medical program that includes office practice, clinical skills, and completion of an externship from an accredited college or university. NOTE: Those eligible candidates who are under final consideration for appointment to positions in this class will be required to authorize the release of criminal conviction information.
