Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS, MT, MLT)

Overview Yale New Haven Hospital has positions available for certified or certification eligible Medical Lab Professions. MLS, MT, MLT's and those with applicable ASCP categorical certifications are welcome to apply. As a member of our Laboratory Medicine team, you will get to work with some of the leading experts in a number of specialty fields every day. Responsibilities * Understands and adheres to Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors. * Demonstrate knowledge and adhere to laboratory and hospital policies and procedures. * Demonstrates technical competency by performing a wide variety of laboratory techniques. These include moderate to highly complex tests. * Demonstrates sufficient knowledge and skills to independently operate instrumentation and/or assigned benches. * Operates all department equipment safely and according to manufacturer guidelines. * Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshoots instruments failures. * Meet continuing education requirements. * Participates in activities that demonstrate professionalism, a commitment to competency and career growth. * Performs a variety of routine tests and procedures, performs instrument maintenance procedures, perform routine quality control procedures. * Performs other duties as assigned to assure efficient operations of department, including covering other lab sections. Qualifications Education: AS degree in Medical Laboratory Science, BS Degree Medical Laboratory Science or BS Degree in a Biological Science with 1-year clinical lab experience. ASCP certified, eligible or equivalent. Experience: Minimum experience 0-1 year in a Clinical Laboratory, new graduates welcome to apply.
