PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Assesses and interprets data about the patient#s status in order to identify each patient#s needs and to provide the appropriate care; including physical, social and emotional needs based on age and culture.# Identifies and evaluates patient#s learning needs, abilities and readiness to learn and documents appropriately.# Delivers patient care consistent with established standards of care, guidelines, policies, procedures and regulatory standards. # Obtains pre-placement health history and immunizations for prospective employees, volunteers, students.# Conducts pre-placement screening for all new employees including: vital signs, vision test, color blindness test, urine drug screen, and lifting evaluation.# Reviews employee#s laboratory results and provides appropriate follow up.# Monitors cases requiring physician follow up to ensure treatment consultation occurs.# Researches and provides recommendations for accommodating employees with handicaps. # Reviews and investigates occupational injuries/illnesses.# Provides counseling and follow up care to ensure positive outcomes and communicates results with EH team, PA, and Medical Director as needed.# Communicates all occupational infectious disease findings to the manager of infection prevention. # Coordinates blood borne pathogen exposure program.# Collects and interprets lab results, provides patient counseling and education related to disease process, develops and revises plan of care for patient based on evaluation.# Records OSHA reportable cases on OSHA Log 300. # Organizes and prioritizes work assignments based on patient needs.# Utilizes critical thinking skills, responds to emergency situations per protocol, demonstrates ability to make effective nursing judgement, including crisis and emergency situations. # Reviews workers# compensation/disability claims and reports all injuries to workers# compensation carrier. Coordinates transitional duty program for work related employee injuries and communicates with Employee Health Team, Department Directors and Workers Compensation Carrier. # Participates in new employee orientation and provides training programs regarding occupational health and safety as requested.# Participates in quality improvements activities, developing policies, evidence based practice and/or guidelines to improve patient care and assists with data collecting and monitoring. # QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Average New York Staff Position Pay
