Position Summary Department: OHJOI Nursing Operations Status: Full-Time Schedule: Variable Days, Rotating weekends Title: Registered Nurse, RN, Ortho Nurse, Ortho, Nurse Navigator Location: 62 Columbia Street, Orlando, FL 32806 ORLANDO HEALTH JEWETT ORTHOPEDIC INSTITUTE Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute is one of the region's largest orthopedic and sports medicine practices, providing comprehensive care for more than 250,000 patients each year. This August, the institute will open Florida's first dedicated orthopedic hospital, featuring 75 private inpatient rooms, 10 operating suites with four virtually connected suites that can be used to train surgeons around the world, and a state-of-the-art research and innovation center with a 10-station bio skills lab and 3D printer. In March, a new medical pavilion opened adjacent to the hospital and houses outpatient clinics, an imaging suite, physical therapy spaces and the largest orthopedic ambulatory surgery center in Florida. Responsibilities This role will enhance the patient experience by providing seamless navigation from pre-procedure scheduling and throughout the care continuum. Collaborates with all members of the interdisciplinary team to coordinate and consistently manage patient care by serving as a point of contact for patients and families. Systematically and continually perform the functions of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care according to the nursing process. Essential Functions * Coordinates patient care through the continuum by assisting with timely access to care, coordinating/facilitating appointments and services, and encouraging adherence to treatment plans, protocols, and follow up care. * Assesses patient current and future needs, provides patient access to resources (internal and external), and makes appropriate referrals as needed. * Provides education and information to the patient and family related to the healthcare system, multidisciplinary team member roles, plan of care, and available resources. * Establishes and maintains close collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to ensure seamless patient care and care coordination. * Tracks determined program metrics, and quality indicators, documents patient interactions and progression, and communicates navigation activities to physicians, care team, and leadership. * Collaborates with clinical team to obtain or develop patient and family educational materials and resources. * Demonstrates knowledge, skill, and coordination to provide nursing care and guidance to the patient from screening to post-operative care and follow up. * Demonstrates effective communication with patients, families, peers, members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, and community organizations and resources. * Perform all other duties as assigned. * Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards. * Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Qualifications Education/Training * BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) preferred. Licensure/Certification * Maintains Registered Nurse license in the state of Florida. * Maintains current BLS/healthcare provider certification. Experience * Three (3) years' clinical experience in acute care. Orthopedic Experience preferred. Care Management/Coordinator experience preferred. Education/Training * BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) preferred. Licensure/Certification * Maintains Registered Nurse license in the state of Florida. * Maintains current BLS/healthcare provider certification.
