Primary Scheduled Hours: 48 hours per pay period Night shift. Job Summary: Provides direct patient care in the Labor and Delivery and one other patient care department as Primary Nurse (Acute Care, Emergency Department, OR, and/or Outpatient. Provides assessment and planning for individualized patient care for patients in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and acute patients. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Communicates with physicians about changes in patient's clinical condition including: fetal monitoring and results of diagnostic studies. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Performs general nursing duties in Labor and Delivery and Mother/Baby departments (Acute Care). Floats among OB, Acute Care, Outpatient, and Emergency Department as needed, and functions with adequate supervision. Participates in performance improvement activities, Who are we? * Newport Hospital and Health Services is located in Newport, WA on the Washington-Idaho border. We are an independent rural healthcare provider. * Newport Hospital and Health Services consists of: * 24 bed Rural Community Hospital - Trauma Level IV * 15 providers Rural Health Clinic * 72 - bed, high -level care, Advanced Assisted Living Facility * 42 - apartment; low-moderate care level Assisted Living Facility * In 2021 we celebrated our 100th year in operation servicing the local members of Newport, WA and the surrounding communities. Education Background and Experience: Minimum Education: Associate Degree Nursing, or its equivalent. Required Licensure / Certifications: Active Washington State or Multistate RN license with the authority to work in Washington State. Current BLS Within 6 months: NRP; AWHONN Intermediate EFM (For RN's new to L&D, also attend classes: Management of L&D, Complications of L&D, The First 18 Hours) Within 12 months: STABLE; ACLS; PALS, TNCC, and other applicable classes as mandated by contract. Required Experience: One (1) or more years of recent Labor and Delivery/Newborn Nursery experience (preferred). Professional Requirements: * Maintain regulatory requirements. * Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated timelines. * Demonstrates the ability to adhere to the mission, ethics and goals of the District. * Demonstrates the ability to communicate with patients, guests and staff in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner. Essential Job Functions: * Functions as Primary Nurse in OB and at least one other department with demonstrated competency. May also be assigned as a float nurse, assisting as non-primary to other departments (Acute Care, Outpatient, OR and/or Emergency Department). * Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes; neonate, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population, including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn. * Demonstrates knowledge of admission process to area hospitals when necessary. * Formulates an individualized plan of care, through a collaborative process of assessment, interpretation, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation, and revise plan as indicated. * Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care. * Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition. * Follows the medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors. Compensation/How We Care For You: Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range ($38.04 - $53.03/hour) dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation increment increases annually.
