Registered Nurse (RN) - Archbold Living Cairo Position Description Education Requirements: Graduate of a school of Professional Nursing. Licensed by the Georgia Board of Nursing. Current certification in Basic Life Support. Experience: Experience preferred and#in long term care experience a plus. Required Skills: Must use holistic approach to nursing care. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as excellent interpersonal skills. Position requires competency in basic nursing skills and the ability to learn new computer skills. Able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action, and to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and the general public. Must be knowledgeable of the laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long term care. Must possess leadership and supervisory skills and be able to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures that are necessary to providing high quality care. Must be patient, cheerful, enthusiastic and have a willingness to handle difficult residents. Physical Demands: Good physical and mental health. Must be able to lift, bend, pull and push, using good body mechanics, without limitations. Must possess visual acuity with or without corrective lenses to read printed material and visualize patients to the degree that changes in color or respirations can be detected; hearing ability with or without auditory aids to understand the normal speaking voice without viewing the speaker and auscultation of the chest using a stethoscope; and speaking ability to ask and answer pertinent questions and relay information. Must demonstrate the ability to wear properly fitting respiratory protective mask for periods of time without limitations. Able to work under supervision or independently as directed by the situation. Must be able to work under stressful conditions. Supervises: Care of a group of patients and nursing personnel assigned to the team. Supervised By: Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, Charge Nurse Performance Standards: Organization Wide: Maintains a professional image. Makes a conscientious effort to help maintain a clean, safe and secure environment. Assumes responsibility for institutional requirements. Customer Service Interpersonal skills Demonstrates pride in the organization. Strives to work well as a team member. Long Term Care Nurse Core: Ability To effectively perform as Charge Nurse, if assigned. Manage Med Cart and other equipment if assigned. Maintain resident rights and confidentiality. Participate in the annual State Survey#s of facility. Demonstrate effective clinical skills, and utilize the nursing process in planning or providing care for residents of all ages. Maintain a safe environment for residents, co-workers, visitors and self. Demonstrate ability to document accurately and in a timely manner with the highest concern for accuracy and completeness. Assume responsibility for maintaining current certifications and licensure required for position.
