Nurse Practitioner, Ambulatory Surgery


The Department of Perioperative Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner/Assistant Director of Nursing, Ambulatory Surgery. The successful candidate will: * Demonstrate clinical responsibility for the assessment of the pre-operative patient including history & physicals, review of lab results, EKG's, medical/cardiology clearances and other health information as needed. * Address all clinical concerns/questions regarding patient readiness for surgery with the appropriate disciplines/individuals. * Ensure that all appropriate documentation is available at the time of surgery. * Be available to patient families and staff working in Ambulatory Surgery, as a clinical and educational resource. * Function as a liaison between admitting, anesthesia, surgery and nursing staff. * Work closely with the Assistant Director of Nursing for Ambulatory Surgery to manage change and implement systems to improve patient flow. * Investigate best practices for Pre-Admission Testing and coordinates their implementation in the area. * Collaborate with Senior Associate Administrator to develop a comprehensive performance program. * Actively participate in meetings/committees. * Function as Team Leader in the PAT area, identifying opportunities for improvement. Required Qualifications: * New York State Nurse Practitioner Licensure. * Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Nursing. * 7+ years of post licensure experience, to include 5 years of progressive management/supervisory experience. Preferred Qualifications: Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 7:00am to 3:00pm Salary Grade/Rank: SL-5 Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement: An approved COVID-19 vaccination.
