Piedmont Athens Oncology Dept. Full time Day shift 7am-7pm The Oncology unit here at Piedmont Athens Regional is home to medical oncology, surgical oncology, comfort care and inpatient hospice patients. We are CoC accredited allowing multiple education opportunities for our team. We feel strongly that in doing this we are able to provide our patients with informed, oncology centered care. Our nurses are or become chemotherapy/biotherapy administration certified through ONS. We are proud to be able to administer as well as educate the patient and their support system about these medications. Our team strives to provide compassionate, high quality care to each patient we serve from admission to discharge. The Oncology unit provides nursing care to patients utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care. RESPONSIBLE FOR: Coordinates the delivery of quality nursing care for patients from birth through the lifecycle, as well as operational issues during his/her shift. Provides clinical care as needed when census demands. Communicates patient care, departmental issues, and staff concerns to the appropriate leader(s). Serves as resource for guidance and assistance to the staff. MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate of a nursing program. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: One year of nursing experience in a hospital setting required. MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. BLS certification required. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Two or more years of nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred. Bachelor's degree preferred. Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable. Demonstrated clinical competency.
