Job Summary The Tampa General Hospital Cardiothoracic Surgery Service is looking for highly skilled advanced practice providers with surgical first assist training to join their rapidly growing, fast paced and innovative practice specializing in the management of the regions most acute and complex cardiothoracic, heart and lung transplant, patient population. Cardiovascular APP's with surgical first assist training / certification will be expected to be skilled in endovascular vein and/or radial artery harvesting for cardiovascular surgical patients. Additionally, this APP provides care in the clinic setting and care coordination through "daily rounding" in the CTICU and cardiac floor for CV surgical and thoracic patients, using an organized, multidisciplinary team approach to provide continuity of care. Participating in rotating first assist call for evenings/nights and weekends is also an expectation. Our program has five cardiothoracic surgeons (growing to six), who perform over 30 heart transplants and 40 lung transplants per year. In addition to routine CT Surgery procedures, our surgeons perform cutting edge procedures such as robotic assisted CABG, minimally invasive valve surgeries and currently planning for robotic mitral valve surgeries. * Conducts and documents in the electronic record history/physical examinations, admission workups and consults including assessments and plans in collaboration with supervising physician. * Co-manages patient care in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. * Responds to floor calls and evaluates patients as needed for pre- and post-procedure complications, change in medical condition or other patient/RN concerns. * Daily rounding on hospital patients, monitoring therapy and providing continuity of care. * Clinic coverage and operational support if applicable. * Counsels' patients/family on condition and pre-/post-surgical / procedural care. * Facilitates discharge planning and patient throughput while partnering to ensure world class outcomes. Qualifications: * Masters Degree (APRN or PA) * Current PA/APRN National Certification and licensure in the State of Florida * APRN's require Acute Care or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care National Certification in addition to RNFA certification. * Minimum of three years' experience as an APP in a relevant acute care setting * Surgical experience required; CT Surgery experience required
