Registered Nurse - Maternity - Nights


The Maternity Unit is seeking a fulltime and reliable RN with exemplary customer service skills and a can-do attitude to coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the Nursing Process. Provide supervision of non-RN personnel and act as a resource for ancillary staff on assigned unit. Supervise unit activities when assigned to charge or clinical coordinator role. Act as preceptor to new staff and/or students as requested. Adhere to all Stamford Hospital's policies and procedures, including the Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program. Provide safe and therapeutic care using the values inherent in our hospital culture. Responsibilities include ensuring the infant security program is intact per unit protocol, promoting an optimal breastfeeding experience for patients, recognizing the symptoms of maternal hemorrhage and implementing interventions to stabilize the patient, demonstrating knowledge of surgical GYN procedures, assessing patients with accuracy based on age and physical requirements, maintaining competencies to care for patients undergoing mastectomy and other breast procedures, and performing newborn assessment, metabolic screening, and hearing screening. Schedule: Full Time & Part-Time available. Night Shift 7p-8a. 1) Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Minimum of 1 year professional nursing experience required. 2) Valid license as Registered Nurse in Connecticut. 3) BSN strongly preferred. 4) BLS certification required. 5) Maintain minimum of 6 contact hours annually. 6) Previous experience in maternal child health highly preferred. 7) Obtain NRP and Fetal Monitoring Certification within 12 months, if not currently certified in this area. 8) Lactation Certification preferred. 8) Attend Annual Maternal Child Health (MCH) Competency Day.
