Nurse Educator (RN)

Overview Come join our team at Tower Behavioral Health, and make a difference everyday! We are looking to add a dedicated Nurse Educator to our nursing team! Tower Behavioral Health a state of the art Psych-Safe facility, with spacious outdoor courtyards, indoor gymnasiums, an herb garden and bird sanctuary. This 144-bed treatment center provides services to adults, adolescents, and seniors. The facility offers inpatient and outpatient programs, counseling, treatment for substance abuse disorders and other services. It is in Reading, PA, on a partially wooded parcel on the west side of Route 183. Scheduling details: Full Time Monday - Friday 7a - 3:30p (Very occasional earlier/later times to meet with Night shift staff) ADDITIONAL BENEFITS: * Monthly in-person and online trainings to increase skills of nursing staff, including CIWA and COWS assessments, facilitating groups, suture removal, phlebotomy, and EKGs. * Healthstream modules monthly, Crisis Prevention Institute's Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training on-site, CPR in house * Medical, dental, and vision insurance * EAP Program for all employees * Acadia Healthcare 401(k) plan PURPOSE STATEMENT: Plan, develop and coordinate continuing nursing in-service education programs within the facility for all clinical and non-clinical nursing staff in a positive, empathetic, and professional manner at all times. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Assess educational needs and develop/coordinate necessary education programs. * Coordinate orientation programs for new clinical staff. * Act a general resource for nursing staff. * Work with hospital leadership and staff to assess current educational needs and develops a plan to satisfy those needs. * Collaborate with medical practitioners and Director of Nursing to incorporate nursing processes into the plan of care for patients. * Provide educational leadership to patients and care providers to enhance specialized patient care within established clinical protocol. * Assist patient and caregivers with education needs, problem solution and health management across the continuum of care. * Implement and deliver educational curricula as required by regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission, CARF, CMS and State agencies. * Initiate clinical skills development programs for direct care staff. * Educate direct patient care staff in the use of equipment, supplies, and coordinates in-service training for appropriate staff. * Provide specialized nursing protocols for direct care staff. * Develop training and implementation as needed. Qualifications EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: * Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Education required. Master's degree in nursing or related field preferred. * Three or more years' clinical experience combined with/or related to teaching experience required. * One or more years' behavioral health experience required.
