Student Nurse Intern - Observation Unit

The Student Nurse Intern program will offer you some special incentives: * Opportunity for 2 shadow experiences in specialty areas of your choice paired with an RN * Accelerated orientation based on your skills from your nursing clinical experiences * Additional education through the opportunity to attend patient rounds and lunch and learn sessions Job Summary: * Assist the Registered Nurse by providing direct patient care tasks and supportive duties in the Observation setting * Provide basic patient care with clinical competence including: VS, bathing patients, assisting with feeding and ambulation, EKG and phlebotomy Required Job Specific Competencies: * Demonstrates the ability to work independently and exhibits flexibility in decision making and prioritizing assignments * Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with the medical and nursing staff in all areas within the facility * Actively guards the confidentiality of sensitive info including but not limited to the patients, staff and the health system * Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient * Self-directed and quickly able to adapt to variable patient care conditions and volume levels in the hospital Qualifications: * Basic computer skills * BLS required * Enrolled in approved school of nursing in a Registered Nurse program Education: * Enrolled in approved school of nursing in a Registered Nurse program and must have completed at least one clinical semester-required Availability: * Available to work rotating shifts (day, evening & nights) * Able to work rotating weekends and holidays * Able to work 12-hour shifts * Able to commit to working FULL TIME hours for the duration of the summer Position Pay Rate: $19.00/hour Thompson Health is an EOE encouraging women, minorities, individuals with disabilities and veterans to apply
