Pay Schedule XII, Grade 2M A vacancy exists in the Department of Health and Human Services, Bureau of Animal Services, Communicable Disease and Environmental Health Services. Examples of Duties Job Purpose Under general supervision, plans, supervises, and coordinates the nursing activities of one or more programs or of a geographical region of the County. Essential Job Duties * Supervises professional and support staff providing a variety of nursing services. * Provides and supervises the provision of nursing care, referral services, case management, case monitoring, health education, and health guidance to individuals, families, institutions, and the community. * Coordinates public health nursing programs with other health and human service programs in the region. * Plans, develops, and provides orientation programs for the training of nurses and other staff members. * Monitors staff for compliance of state and federal regulations. * Conducts field supervision of staff. * Evaluates the effectiveness of programs and recommends changes as necessary. * Identifies community health issues and assists in the development of new programs. * Prepares and supervises the preparation of nursing records, reports, and related correspondence. * Prepares documentation regarding compliance issues. * Collects and analyzes performance and service data. Qualifications Required Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in nursing; Plus Two years' public health nursing experience. Additional qualifying education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. OR Graduation from an accredited diploma school of nursing; Plus A least three years' public health nursing experience. Additional qualifying education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associates in arts degree in nursing; Plus At least four years' public health nursing experience. Additional qualifying education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. Licenses and Certificates Possession of a valid license to practice as a professional registered nurse, issued by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses, is required at the time of appointment. Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment. Proof of Licenses, Certifications and Education Applicants are required to submit proof of education and licenses to meet the minimum qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant's major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable. Conditions of Employment Employees hired after July 1, 2022 are required to participate in the Baltimore County Employees' Retirement System, with very limited exceptions. Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Physical and Environmental Conditions The work of this classification may include the performance of physical activities such as walking, standing, and lifting, the operation of medical equipment and instruments, and travel throughout the County. Duties may expose incumbents to various bio-medical hazards. Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation Applicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening and employment investigation, including, but not limited to criminal background, education certification and fingerprinting checks.
