Pain Management Nurse Practitioner


The Department of Anesthesiology in partnership with University Physicians of Brooklyn at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Nursing / Pain Management Nurse Practitioner. The successful candidate will: * Perform consultations for patients with acute pain caused by medical, surgical, or traumatic conditions. * Perform patient assessment through history and physical examinations. * Assist with multimodal analgesic techniques for pain including continuous parenteral medications. * Participate in daily rounds and provide documented follow-up for acute pain procedures in both inpatients and ambulatory surgical patients. * Assess the level of pain and provide ongoing monitoring and management of the patients treatment. * Manage infusions local anesthetics including re-dressing, adjusting, re-dosing, and removing epidural or peripheral nerve catheters. * Participate in the ongoing education and training of hospital personnel regarding various pain modalities regional anesthesia techniques and patient-controlled analgesia (PCA). * Participate in quality assurance programs and clinical trials to promote efficient and quality patient care. * Participate in hospital and departmental meetings to provide status updates for pain management issues, care and outcomes. * Develop and work with departmental and hospital leadership to develop acute and chronic pain policies. Required Qualifications: * New York State Registered Nurse Licensure. * New York State Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in Specialty Area. * Masters Degree in Nursing. * ACLS and BLS Certification completed within 3 months of employment. Preferred Qualifications: * Minimum of 2 years post-licensure clinical nursing. Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 8:00am to 4:00pm Salary Grade/Rank: SL-5 Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement: An approved COVID-19 vaccination.
