The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines, and in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act. 1. Makes pre-procedure phone calls to explain procedure, provide instructions, obtain information, and as otherwise necessary. 2. Dispenses procedure medication to technologist, monitors expiration dates and refrigeration temperatures, according to established protocols. 3. Reviews and explains procedure(s) to patients and family and provides pre-procedure instructions; monitors patients post-procedure and provides post-procedure care and gives post-procedure instructions. 4. Provides post-procedure follow-up call to patient to assess condition, answer questions and review pathology reports as needed. 5. Obtains pathology reports in a timely manner; contacts surgeon or referring physician with results and contacts patients with results as needed. 6. Works closely with Breast Health Coordinator to facilitate patient care and support as necessary. * Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations. * Minimum of two years of full time experience as a RN post orientation or post residency training. * Certified in American Heart Association's Basic Cardiac Life Support. * Other REQUIRED cardiopulmonary resuscitation certifications ACLS, NRP, PALS, etc. are unit specific. * Please refer to the specific clinical unit for additional education, competencies and/or certification required as a condition of employment. PREFERRED: * BSN degree preferred * National Certification in Clinical Specialty preferred
