Responsibilities #Assessment. #ED nurses shall triage and initiate accurate and ongoing assessments of physical and psychosocial problems of patients of all ages from 0 through the lifespan, as evidenced in documentation and adherence to department standards. #Demonstrates organization and efficiency in relationship to time management and patient load (4-6 patients). #Identifies environmental and psychosocial factors affecting discharge needs and refers appropriately. #Knowledgeable of EMTALA issues that impact ED care and management. #Recognitive of communicable disease and potential for bioterrorism threats. #Planning and Implementation. #Based on assessment, sound knowledge and critical thinking, ED nurses shall initiate nursing interventions and diagnostic tests according to standard, and function independently to assure high quality, timely and comprehensive care is offered. #Demonstrates an awareness of community resources for referral and integration of care.# #Accountable for daily assignments to ensure that adequate supplies and equipment are available for patient care. #Demonstrates the ability to assume leadership role in emergency or crisis situations. #Able to identify replacement and alternative options, resources and communicating repair needs in the event of equipment malfunctions. #Maintains a working knowledge of department policy, procedure and standards and practices accordingly.
