Discover all the possibilities of a career at Northside today. Our unit's primary focus is on general, bariatric, and colorectal surgeries. General surgery cases can include such procedures as appendectomies, cholecystectomies, thyroidectomies and small bowel resections. Our colorectal surgery population consists of patients with long-standing histories of Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's and diverticulitis or new diagnosis of colon cancer who now require surgical intervention. With this population, the nursing team works closely with our Wound and Ostomy team to give these patients the emotional and physical support they need to recover. As a Bariatric Center for Excellence, our team provides a life-changing weight loss surgery to patients while providing them with education and emotional support to successfully accomplish this goal. The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines, and in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act. REQUIRED: * Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations. * Minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience as a RN post-orientation or post-residency training. * Certified in American Heart Association's Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS). * Other REQUIRED cardiopulmonary resuscitation certifications (ACLS, NRP, PALS, etc.) are unit specific.
