Senior Services Nurse


Performs intermediate professional and administrative work for the department of Senior Services to ensure compliance with licensing and accreditation agencies and performing assessments for the Community Alternatives and In-Home Programs; does related work as required.   Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)   * Reviews patient medical charts to ensure compliance with all licensing and accreditation agencies and assess optimum service delivery period. * Analyzes data, develops recommendations to solve problems and improve practice in different program areas, and monitors progress to ensure compliance with improvement plans.  * Provides technical assistance/consultation to staff. * Provides indirect assistance during negotiations with certification and licensure agencies, * Presents findings from quality assurance activities at Utilization and Review and Board Meetings, as necessary. * Provides nursing assessment services to homebound clients in Community Alternatives Program and/or In-Home Program. * Provides backup nursing coverage for Adult Daycare. * Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) Member, if appointed or volunteer. * Performs related tasks as required. Knowledge of quality assurance program practices to include: planning and development of assessment tools and techniques; assessing problems and developing recommendations to solve them; providing technical assistance and consultation to staff; exercising judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying quality standards, policies and procedures.  Thorough knowledge of the services, benefits and programs available for senior citizens; demographics of the service area; and the social and health needs of the senior population. Ability to operate standard office equipment to include operating a personal computer and standard office productivity software. Ability to maintain health records, assess and reassess client needs, and prepare technical reports.   Ability to communicate effectively with clients, professional and administrative personnel and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to interpret standards, policies and requirements.Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing with either an associate or bachelor degree and two years' experience in professional level treatment programming for the elderly client population. Special requirements: Valid driver's license. Salary will be determined by candidate's qualifications, budget, market, and internal equity.
