ABOUT THIS ROLE: In this role, you will assure the health of the community by providing population-based nursing services in the community, clinic, home, and other venues. Duties include assessment of healthcare needs of clients, families, and communities; development of plans of care when appropriate; and implementation of community health interventions, including immunizations for children and adults; reproductive health screenings; communicable disease surveillance and investigation; health education, and case management. Our Community Public Health Nurses participate in community educational activities and risk reduction counseling, that promote awareness and support for improved health, habits, and behaviors in the population. PREFERENCES: We require graduation from a school of professional nursing and 1 year of related experience. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, assessment and critical thinking skills, and experience in current nursing practices and public health principles. We seek candidates with the ability to problem-solve, set priorities and work independently, who possess excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills - essential to effectively interact with internal and external customers to promote public health. Cultural sensitivity is a must for every candidate to be able to effectively work with diverse populations.We encourage candidates with bilingual ability to apply to help us better serve our diverse county population. If you are competent in: assessment skills and use of blood pressure and other vital sign monitoring equipment (i.e. scales, thermometers, etc.); syringes to administer immunizations and medications and blood collection devices;proficient in Microsoft Office software to effectively use a computer for data entry and e-mail, we need you! Our normal hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm, with occasional, required flexibility to work non-routine hours to meet episodic public health needs and/or emergencies. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Registered Nurse License, CPR/First Aid Certification and a valid driver's license with safe driving record are required. For safety and peace of mind, passage of local, state and federal background checks prior to employment are also required. ENTRY SALARY:$69.186.00/yr.
