City/State Charlottesville, VA Overview Work Shift First (Days) (United States of America) Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is currently hiring a Registered Nurse for the PACU- Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. PACU: Post- Anesthesia Care Unit RN's are responsible for observing and treating post-operative patients from a variety of service lines including Radiology, Endoscopy, General surgery, Complex GYN, Neurosurgery, Vascular/Thoracic and Orthopedic surgery. PACU a 12-bed unit with a 1 to 2 Nursing ratio. Operating hours are 730AM to 930PM Monday to Friday. The required call schedule includes 8 shifts per 6 weeks until 930PM and 1 overnight call from 930p to 7a. One 24-hour holiday call per year. Requirements: * 1 year of experience, preferred. * Critical Care experience, Preferred. * RN License- Required. * Degree or diploma from an accredited Registered Nursing program * BSN or MSN preferred. * ACLS Required within 90 days of hire, preferred prior to hire. * PALS required within 1 year of hire. * BLS required within 90 days of hire. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. BSN or MSN preferred. Meets and maintains any requirements defined by specific specialty; Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire; Emergency Care - ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire; Oncology Care ONS/ONCC or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire. Women's Care - Perinatal departments; NRP within 6 months of hire. Inpatient Pediatrics. PALS within 6 months of hire. All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
