Full Time Perm Pending 462 Grider Street Nursing - RN/Management Day Shift normal">DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves planning and supervising nursing care for patients in the Ambulatory Services Department (outpatient care) at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation. The incumbent is responsible for monitoring performance of nursing and related services as performed by lower-level for compliance with various regulations, standards, policies and procedures. The incumbent collaborates with unit staff, departmental staff, other disciplines, patients and caregivers in providing quality care, effective clinical operations and an exceptional patient experience. Work is performed under the general supervision of higher-level professional nursing staff for clinical matters and an Ambulatory Services Department administrator for non-clinical matters. Supervision is exercised over lower-level nursing, paraprofessional, clerical and support staff. Does related work as required. normal"> normal">TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: normal">Supervises nursing and related services as performed by lower-level staff in respective area(s) of assignment; normal">Develops work schedules, monitors and maintains adequate staffing levels, evaluates employee performance, monitors employee time and attendance, and participates in disciplinary matters; normal">Oversees and facilitates the flow of patients through area(s) of assignment while promoting and supporting quality patient care and patient experience; normal">Oversees staff for performance of work in accordance with various compliance guidelines, chart audit guidelines, regulatory requirements, etc.; normal">Receives, reviews and responds to matters as brought forth by patients, caregivers, departments staff, providers and other organizational members; normal">Works as part of an interdisciplinary team in the treatment of Ambulatory Services patients; normal">Performs quality inspections; assists in developing responses to quality matters and other corrective action(s) designed to improve patient care, clinical operations and patient experience; normal">Utilizes clinical data and clinical expertise in reviewing issues and developing various responses, corrective actions and other clinical matters; normal">Orientates and trains new staff to area(s) of work as assigned; normal">Monitors and maintains appropriate stock of materials and equipment; normal">Performs professional nursing work as needed; normal">Participates in and may organize meetings, committees, trainings, in-services, conferences, etc. normal"> normal">FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: normal">Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, terminology and equipment associated with professional nursing in general and in an ambulatory services/outpatient care setting; good knowledge of the principles and practices as they relate hospital unit operations; working knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, accreditation standards, and ECMCC policies and procedures; working knowledge of available community resources for patients undergoing medical care associated with an ambulatory services setting; working knowledge of the principles and practices of patient flow in an ambulatory services setting; ability to supervise lower-level staff; ability to plan, assign and evaluate the work of lower-level staff; ability to train and orientate others; ability to evaluate and develop methods for providing and improving quality of care and clinical operations in an ambulatory services setting; ability to utilize clinical expertise and clinical data in developing patient care and clinical operations methods and standards; ability to work effectively on an interdisciplinary care team; ability to compile and maintain data; ability to handle multiple and changing priorities; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse constituency; ability to utilize a variety of electronic software applications; sound professional judgment; capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. normal"> normal">MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: mso-add-space:auto;text-indent:-.25in;line-height:normal;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">A.)
