Certified Nurse Midwife/ARNP- OBGYN


POSITION SUMMARY The Certified Nurse Midwife/ARNP-OBGYN is to provide prenatal, postpartum, and gynecological medical services to the patients of RHNMC in accordance with training, experience, and licensure. Participate as a member of the medical team within RHNMC and function as an educational resource to patients, RHNMC, students, and the community. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Clinical * Participate in direct patient care, including obstetrics (prenatal and postpartum care) gynecology, and family planning. * Provide continuous, comprehensive, and culturally sensitive health care of the highest quality. * Perform procedures such as IV insertion, catheterization, venipuncture, and IV infusion * Evaluate patients' acute problems thoroughly and manage them appropriately (including medications, imaging, and labs). * Evaluate patient's chronic problems thoroughly and manage them appropriately. * Performs, reads, and interprets obstetrical ultrasounds and biophysical profiles. * Uses referrals appropriately and cost‐effectively as evidenced by referral frequency and appropriateness (reflected in the referral department and other available reports.) Does basic appropriate workup before referral. * Demonstrates sound judgment and decision‐making skills in day‐to‐day practice activities (e.g., triage appropriately, patient flow management, etc., etc.). * Updates problems, medications, and vaccine lists appropriately, in patient chart. * Adheres to accepted evidence-based standards of care, as applicable. * Coordinates and leads team "huddles", at a minimum of once/week. * Meet minimum patient care productivity requirements as may be set by RHNMC to meet requirements of outside funding and/or reimbursement sources. * Provide day-to-day supervision of support staff with respect to individual patient management. * Participate in medical staff, QA/QI meetings, and other committees within the RHNMC established to improve patient care and the overall operation of RHNMC. * Participate in case management review and discussion, with CMO & Supervising Physician (i.e., OB patients, and diabetes/hypertension) * Assist in the implementation of plans to meet the objectives of the annual and other goals established by the QA/QI & Risk committee and/or RHNMC's grant requirements and Health Plans (Insurance.) Administrative * Provide all necessary documentation in the medical record of care provided to the patient, including education, medications, referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up. * Encounters are completed accurately & within 24 hours to generate a visit summary for patient flow and continuity of care. * May assist in participating in community events to increase access to care. * Participate in chart audits to assess the success of the QA/QI/Risk program. * Become part of community groups or agencies to assist RHNMC's integration into the community. * Assist the Supervising Physician and CEO to fulfill grant reporting requirements of RHNMC. * Perform other duties as assigned. POSITION REQUIREMENTS HIPAA The licensed independent health care practitioners (provider) will have access to PHI while carrying out his/her duties is expected to handle protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). The provider uses the PHI for treatment purposes and quality assurance operations. Applying the minimum necessary standard of HIPAA, the designated records set to which this employee will have access include the demographic and scheduling information in the practice management system, and the full medical record. Professional * Bilingual Spanish/English preferred; willingness to utilize translation services to become sufficiently competent to provide medical care, with a strong focus on Spanish and Haitian Creole * Strong commitment to working with patients and staff from a wide range of ethnic, economic, cultural, and social backgrounds. Education * Current and active State of Florida, Department of Health license APRN. * CNM Board Certification * Current DEA certification Physical/Environment * Willingness to work in a hybrid environment; facility and on a mobile unit * Occasional lifting of 40 - 50 and pushing of 5-20 lb. * Sitting, standing, and walking approximately 80% of the time * A medium to high level of manual dexterity is required. * Bending and reaching approximately 20% of the time * Normal accessibility and mobility throughout the region This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and the employee will also perform other reasonable related business duties as assigned by the supervisor. * This organization reserves the right to revise or change job duties and responsibilities as the need arises.
