Summary Job Description: The Lead Bilingual MA will be the point person for communicating information to and from the medical assistant staff. She/he will be responsible for coordinating the daily activities of the medical assistants under the supervision of the clinical director. She/he will be responsible for ensuring that MA-assigned tasks are completed and communicating concerns to the clinical director. The Lead Medical Assistant will report to the Health Center Administrator. Age/Patient Populations Served (Double-click on box to activate appropriate indicator) Age of Patient Population Served Pediatric (0 - 19 yrs) Adult (19 - 64 yrs) Geriatric (65 yrs & older) Nonage Specific Task (N/A) Population Bariatric Patients: BMI greater than 40, or greater than 35 with weight related comorbidities Patient with exceptional communication needs Patient with developmental delays Patient at the end of life Patient under isolation precautions All Populations Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Ensure that the medical assistants work together as a team * Ensure that medical assistants are completing their assigned tasks * Assign tasks to medical assistants under the supervision of the Health Center Administrator * Communicate staff concerns to the Health Center Administrator * Responsible for providing coverage for other sites in all aspects when needed * Responsible for all front Desk Functions in a Primary Care setting * Schedule Appointments * Schedule specialty and ancillary appointments * Answer Phones * Responsible for patient registration data entry * Verify Insurance * Daily Batching of encounter forms * Follow up for reports from specialists * Assist Providers and Clinical staff as needed * Assist patients as needed * Review patients' charts and encounter forms for completion * Scan Reports to the EHR * Ensure that Prescription refills and voicemails are retrieved daily * Responsible for Patient Flow through the Lab * Triage patients; including Blood Pressure, Weight, Height, Pulse, and Temperature * Administer Injections, Immunizations, and Venipuncture according to orders in the EHR * Extensive medical terminology * Maintain inventory for the lab and order as needed. * Maintain immunization logs and report any discrepancies * Follow up on lab discrepancy reports * Assist with training MA/MRs as needed * Other duties as assigned PHMC Compliance Responsibilities: * Understands and adheres to PHMC compliance standards as they appear in the PHMC Code of Conduct, Whistle Blowers, and Conflict of Interest Policies. * Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state, and PHMC regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified. * Comply with HIPAA and Confidentiality Policies and Procedures as they apply to the job. * Comply with the Department of Public Health (DPH), The Joint Commission, and other accreditation and regulatory agencies standards. * Adhere to all PHMC Policies and Procedures. * Knowledge and adherence to Infection Control and Environment of Care Guidelines and Procedures as described in the annual education module. Skills: * Knowledge of billing procedures and Insurance verification * Data Entry * Familiar with Managed Care Plans and Referral Process * Knowledge of ICD 10 Codes * Extensive Medical Terminology * Extensive Organization Skills * Must have a pleasant manner. * Ability to assist Clinical Staff when required * Ability to manage and complete work assigned by several staff * Must be flexible EXPERIENCE: Two to three years of experience in a medical office environment EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED equivalent Diploma from Accredited Medical Assistant school PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position requires standing 2/3 of the time, walking 2/3 of the time, sitting under 1/3 of the time, using hands to finger, handle or feel 2/3 of the time, reaching with hands and arms, under 1/3 of the time, stooping, to kneel, crouch or crawl under 1/3 of the time, talk or hear over 2/3 of the time. The position requires lifting to 10 lbs. up to 1/3 of the time. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Exposure to blood-borne pathogens requires the use of personal protective equipment. salary: Based on education and experience.
