No County Kings Street Address 750 Vandalia Avenue City Brooklyn StateNY Zip Code11239 Minimum Qualifications Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience. One year of this experience must have been providing direct services to individuals diagnosed with mental illness, developmental disabilities, addiction, or substance use disorders in a community setting. Substitution: A bachelor's degree in nursing may substitute for one year of general post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and a master's degree in nursing may substitute for two years of general post-licensure clinical nursing experience. Duties Description Primary duties and responsibilities are but not limited to: * Monitor individuals' care * Consult with community hospitals and clinics regarding individuals' needs * Conduct monthly nursing meetings to discuss consumer concerns, problems, etc. * Maintain communication with individuals' family members or correspondents * Advise nurses/staff on medical and nursing problems as needed * Assist physicians and staff * On-call for individuals' medical and nursing needs * Coordinate annual in-service of staff on individuals' medical and nursing needs * Schedule and coordinate nursing staff to conduct medication recertification classes * Schedule follow-up clinics for individuals * Participate in various committees such as Human Rights, Placement and Incident Review, as needed * Serve as liaison to hospitals, nursing homes, psychiatric centers and rehabilitation centers * Provide input on updating nursing policies and procedures, as needed * Periodic travel to Manhattan sites required * Provide Training to Direct Care staff and nursing team LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/nys-office-for-people-with-developmental-disabilities/posts/?feedView=all #LI-JJ1 Additional Comments Please note: * If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee. * Preference will be given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures.
