Sonographer Manager-OBGYN Clinic


JOB SUMMARY: This position is a leadership position and also performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgement and initiative in the utilization of ultrasound in a dedicated perinatal and gyn facility. The Ultrasound Sonography Manager applies appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. The [Ultrasound Leadership Position] maintains professional judgement in performance of services and a demeanor complementary of medical ethics. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provide supervision of the sonographers including mentoring and professional development. * Ensure compliance with clinical and operational protocols, policies, and procedures. * Ensure that Sonographers have access to supplies and logistical support. * Responsible for the day-to-day operation of sonography services. * Orient and train new team members. * Perform quality control procedures to ensure that the equipment operates at optimal levels. * Assist in quality assurance protocols and quality improvement measures within OBGYN. * Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with co-workers, administrators, and members of the health care team. * Acts as a resource person for the sonographers in the identification and solution of problems. * Documents clearly, concisely, and completely inclusive of diagnostic and patient data in the appropriate record. * Document patient concerns as needed. * Responsible for all applicable accreditation or certification such as the American Institute of ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) accreditation for MFM and ultrasound. SPECIFIED SKILLS * COMPUTER * Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications required. * FOREIGN LANGUAGE * Spanish speaking skills preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS * Not Applicable. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises Ultrasound Sonographers EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE * MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a graduate of a certified sonography program, with an Associates Degree or higher. Must have 5 years of clinical experience and 2-4 years of high risk obstetrical sonography experience in an OB/GYN setting. * PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED LICENSES: Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification. Current CPR certification required. SCHEDULE: Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. Typical business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division); 40 hours per workweek; weekend, holiday, or evening coverage is occasionally required. Work hours will need to be flexible in order to respond to special work assignments, or evening activities, as requested by the team leader.
