The Wound Management Team is a comprehensive evidenced-based service provided on a 5 day a week basis. A team of 6 WOCNs cover a level one trauma facility, designed to provide skilled care to the acutely ill or injured patient, age 16 or older. The primary focus is to prevent injury to healthy tissue by providing therapeutic intervention, prevent complications and reduce recidivism. The acuity of patients includes a diverse variety of diagnosis in need of ostomy, wound or continence care (i.e., Stomas, draining wounds, fistulas, tubes, vascular and pressure ulcers, neuropathic ulcers, skin rash and incontinence). All nursing staff has completed an Accredited Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse Education Program and is board certified by the Wound Ostomy and Continence Nursing Society. The WOCN collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team including bedside nursing, social work, case management, physical & occupational therapist, respiratory therapist, dietician, spiritual care, home health and pharmacist to meet the needs of this population. Position Summary Provides leadership & operational oversight for an inpatient direct care unit or units. Accountable for achievement of department and hospital goals in concert with other hospital and medical staff leadership. Qualifications Education/Training • Graduate of an approved school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with Graduate degree in Business or health-related field preferred. Licensure/Certification • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. • May require one or more of the following certifications based on the assigned patient population: o Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) o Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) o Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) o Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) • National leadership board certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) within 2 years. Experience Two (2) years as a registered nurse and one (1) year leadership experience. Education/Training • Graduate of an approved school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with Graduate degree in Business or health-related field preferred.
