Central Sterile Technician I


SUMMARY The Central Sterile Technician I performs decontamination, preparation, assembly, sterilization and distribution of surgical, diagnostic and clinical instrumentation and reusable medical devices in accordance with HSPC (formally known as IAHCSMM) or CBSPD. AAMI, AORN, JCHO requirements and recommendations. The CSI will follow all Central Sterile policies and standard operating procedures. QUALIFICATIONS * High school diploma or GED. * Associates Degree or Graduate from an accredited Sterile Processing or Surgical Tech Program. * Les than one (1) year job related experience. * Two (2) or more years of job related experience in Sterile Processing preferred. * Certificate in Sterile Processing from HSPA (formally known as IAHCSMM) or CBSPD within 12 months of hire. * Knowledge of sterilization supplies, equipment and instruments * Knowledge of organizing, containing, and transporting items of varying compounds, textures or quantities * Knowledge of transporting and disposing of hazardous materials and sharp objects according to hospital procedures. * Knowledge of sterilization procedures of various equipment and instruments * Knowledge of wrapping and repackaging sterilized instruments * Skill in using sterilization equipment and instruments and arranging instruments on surgical trays * Basic computer skills.
