Community Health Nurse II (10 Months) - Health Department

OPENING DATE: 03/20/2024 CLOSING DATE: 06/20/2024 AT 12:00AM MIDNIGHT SALARY $69,219.00 - $79,491.00 Annually EDUCATION ACCREDITATION: Applicant's education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org. ELIGIBILITY: Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final. CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to this position identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a Fingerprint check. PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected from this position will be on probation for 6 months. CLASS DESCRIPTION A Community Health Nurse II assesses, plans and evaluates patient care in clinics, homes, schools and other community settings. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities. Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed in clinics, homes or schools where incumbents may encounter illness, disease or stressful situations. Work requires minimal physical exertion. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must: EDUCATION: Have a bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university. AND EXPERIENCE: Have two years of experience as a registered nurse. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, AND CERTIFICATIONS: Have a current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Maryland or registered nurse licensure from a Multi-State Licensure Compact participant state is required. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES * Knowledge of nursing theory, process, practices and procedures. * Knowledge of professional nursing standards. * Knowledge of community health resources and agencies. * Ability to make long-range plans for community health services. * Ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate community health programs. * Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others. * Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. * Administrative ability. * Supervisory ability. accredited college or university and two years of experience as a registered nurse.
